Meet Lauren Bree.

I have two children, Olivia and Samuel. I live in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne, and am a qualified Social Worker turned Baby Sleep Consultant. As a Social Worker, I have completed countless hours of professional development in the areas of family violence, attachment theory, feminist theory, and trauma-informed practice. I also understand the psychosocial stressors that commonly affect parents in the perinatal period and beyond.

In August 2018, we welcomed our baby girl into the world - Olivia. Like many of you, I came home with a newborn baby who seemingly slept a lot (maternal melatonin) and then BOOM she had woken up to the world and I was looking down the barrel of tiredness with no end in sight.

I understood newborns slept a lot and would wake regularly and party through the night ...what I didn’t expect was the depth of sleep deprivation. How do I cope with sleep deprivation? How do I physically keep going? Will my anxiety be here in the morning? Do I continue to rock her? Do I feed her to sleep? Do I walk the streets at 10pm?

I read books and followed mums online who seemingly had their babies sleeping, however all the books I had read up to that point didn’t really sit right with my Social Work mind so I decided to research and started to understand that there was a science behind infant sleep and I wanted to learn all about it. So I did!

Having a rationale for nap schedules and awake times, understanding the impact of an overtired baby, a reason why a baby might routinely wake at 5am - I was hooked. And now I want to share my knowledge with as many people as I can to help their families get the sleep they deserve.

I love babies, I love sleeping babies more and very excited to share what I have learnt with you.

My approach to sleep consulting.

I do not have a one style fits all approach, because (you guessed it) there is no such thing as one solution for every single sleep journey.

I assess, with you, the entire family context – the physical, emotional, social, developmental and environmental factors that can affect and support sleep - and bring them together to develop a tailored sleep plan that will work best for you.

The best thing about what I do.

Since starting this beautiful business, it has allowed me to connect with so many amazing families, gorgeous babies, health professionals, and lots of inquisitive people who are generally interested in infant sleep.

I personally feel very proud to offer a supportive and courageous community in which infant sleep in normalised and better understood, mental health is talked about respectfully and supported, postpartum journeys are explored and experienced, and maternal instincts and wisdom are honoured.

Speaking of that community

Here it is.
